Putnam Announces NEW Afterschool and Extended Hours Programming!

DAVENPORT, Iowa (March 6, 2015) – The Putnam is excited to announce the launch of two new programs available to the public, the Putnam Pro Afterschool Series and Friday Family Nights.

NEW! The Putnam Pro Afterschool Series is six weeks of exciting, hands-on learning that invites students to dive deep into exciting concepts! Use the Putnam’s FabLab Classroom and cool tools in the Museum and Science Center to take learning to the next level!

The Putnam Pro Afterschool Series is open to current 4th-8th graders and meets weekly from 4-5:30PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Cost is $80 ($72 for members) per series. Preregistration is required for all programs as there are a limited number of reservations available. Scholarship resources may also be available. Current classes are accepting reservations through Friday March 13th! The second round of classes will be available for registration beginning March 15th, and will run from Tuesday April 21st through Thursday May 28th.

Tuesdays 4/21-5/26: Hardware Hackers Pro

We know robots rock! Learn how to build and program robots as well as hack the Arduino microcontroller as you work with our Alien Worlds and Androids Exhibit!

Wednesdays 4/22-5/27: Putnam Programmer Pro

Become a programming wizard! Learn how to program your own video game with Scratch, your own website with HTML/CSS and your very own Minecraft environment with Python.

Thursdays 4/23-5/28: Space Explorers Pro

Explore the lives and minds of some of the greatest scientists known to Earth-astronauts! Create an interactive exhibit to showcase your favorite space topics by learning new technology and web literacy to include 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC mills and more. Great for enthusiastic, independent learners!
