Mercer County 4-H Fishing Club starting April 25th

Do you want to learn about fishing? Join the 4-H Sport Fishing SPIN club where you’ll learn fishing and water safety, angling skills such as casting, baiting hooks, uses of different  bait and tackle, bait and equipment care, tying fishing knots and hooks,  the different characteristics of fish, importance of water quality for fish habitat, and why fishing regulations are important. The club will run every Saturday from 9 – 11 a.m. starting April 25 through May 23 at various ponds around Mercer County, IL. There first meeting will be held at Aledo Central Park on April 25th at 9 a.m. to go over the program and to get directions to the fishing locations for the other meetings.  This club is open to 10 kids ages 8 to 15. Pre-register by April 19. The fee will be $5 plus the cost of your own supplies.  There is also a $20 program fee for anyone not currently enrolled in 4-H.
