Springfield… State Representative Don Moffitt (R-Gilson) made the following comments following the House vote on the Fiscal Year 2015 emergency budget. The bill passed the House on Tuesday and now awaits consideration in the Senate.

“Today’s vote confronted an unpleasant reality. Our budget for the last three months of the fiscal year is $1.6 billion out of balance, threatening to immediately take funding away for child-care assistance, court reporters, correctional officers’ paychecks and services to the mentally ill and developmentally disabled. The bill passed by the House today gives Governor Rauner the flexibility he needs to correct the unbalanced budget which he inherited for the current year. It is very unfortunate that this action was needed, and I hope that it is only a temporary measure.”
