Repairs needed to new track

Mercer County School District's new all-weather track needed some repairs recently as part of the track on the eastern end developed a dip in it.
The issue caused Mercer County High School to move it's March 31 meet to Sherrard.
"There was a drainage issue which made the a dip in the track," said MCHS Athletic Director Nat Zunkel. "We discovered this last fall."
Zunkel said the extreme winters the county has endured over the last couple of years played a part in the damage.
Zunkel indicated that the stretch of track that was replaced was about three feet wide and the width of the track. He estimated the repairs to the track took between $6,000 and $7,000.
