Putnam Brings Disney’s Big Hero 6 3D to GIANT Screen
DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 2, 2015) – In celebration of National Robotics Week, the Putnam is excited to announce the limited run of Disney’s Big Hero 6 3D in the National Geographic GIANT Screen Theater. The film will be playing for a limited run from Thursday, April 9th through Sunday, April 12th. Tickets are $8.50 for adults, $7.50 for seniors, Students and Military, and $6.50 for Youth 3-12. Visitors can become Ultimate Explorers and experience all the Putnam has to offer by adding a visit to the Museum and Science center AND the travelling exhibit Alien Worlds and Androids!
The film’s website says that the film is full of “all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios.” It goes on to state that Big Hero 6 3D is an action-packed comedy adventure that introduces Baymax, a lovable, personal companion robot, who forms a special bond with robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to Baymax and his diverse group of friends— adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred — who transform into a band of unlikely heroes.
Big Hero 6 is the winner of several awards including the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year, and was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at both the Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards. Local movie reviewer Linda Cook speaks of the movie as being “a roller-coaster of a futuristic action movie” that is “perfect family fare” and that “The entire movie focuses on techies. That’s how the students can become superheroes: They don’t gain mysterious powers, they simply create weapons and costumes capable of amazing things.”
