Tucker edged out in school board election

The Mercer County School Board will have a new member as Dave VanderHeyden was elected to his first term on the board. He will replace Marta Tucker, the current school board president who placed fourth in the voting.

Barb Chiles and Bill Smock each won reelection.

On the Aledo City Council Jim Holmes won the spot on the council over Ryan Maynard.

Incumbent council members Chris Kopp, Michael Chausse and Jay Doherty all ran unopposed and won reelection.


The village president of Joy, Todd Heath was reelected to a second team defeating Dwayne Rogers 85 votes to 30.

In the race for trustee Audrey Bryant, 87; Stephanie Leonard, 72 and Elaine Anderson, 69, were all elected to the board. Josh Stead, 51, Cindy Britton, 27 and Krista Fisher, 26 didn't receive enough votes.


Lisa Sanders, Paula Rath and Karan "Cookie" Dean all won election to the Sherrard Village board edging out Eric Sanders and write in candidate Chuck Hoexter.


Ronnie Brock won reelection as alderman defeating Donnie Cox 24-14. Alderman Donald Truit beat out Kevin Zander 23-9.

New Windsor

Michael Peterson edged out Wilbur Brooks to gain the position of village president, 103-95. David Willems, Tyler Whiting and Zachary Devlin all gained trustee positions defeating Christine Walz and Duaine Schmidt.
