ALEXIS — Two Aledo residents were injured in a crash early Wednesday and the driver charged with operating under the influence.

The two-vehicle wreck involving a sedan and truck tractor occurred 3:55 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 67 and Illinois 135, north of Monmouth and near Alexis.

Illinois State Police said the driver of the 1993 Cadillac sedan, Aledo resident Kelly E. Hobert, 22, disobeyed a stop sign. Troopers said the car traveled east through the intersection on Illinois 135 and struck the Freightliner truck on its right side, as it traveled south on U.S. 67.

Hobert and one passenger, Zakary R. Lower, 25, of Aledo, suffered what were termed moderate injuries by police and were transported by ambulance to OSF Holy Family Medical Center.

The truck driver, Michael S. Johnson, 28, of Quincy, was not injured in the crash.

Hobert was charged with DUI, disobeying a traffic control device and driving without insurance.

In addition to state police, the Warren County Sheriff's Office, Alexis Fire and Rescue, and Galesburg Hospitals Ambulance Service out of Monmouth were on scene.
