UnityPoint Health – Trinity Muscatine hosts 5th annual community health fair Encourages community members take advantage of local health care resources
UnityPoint Health –Trinity Muscatine will host their annual community health fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday, April 22 at the Muscatine Mall in Muscatine. Trinity Muscatine encourages the community to learn about the many healthcare ‘riches’ that the community has to offer. Representatives from UnityPoint Health – Trinity Cancer Center, Trinity Heart Center, Trinity weight management, Robert Young Center, New Horizons, UnityPoint Clinic, Trinity Muscatine Public Health, Trinity Muscatine Diabetic Education and Trinity Muscatine Pain Clinic as well as many other service areas will be available to answer questions regarding available health care resources.
The health fair will bring in more than 80 vendors to showcase a range of health care and wellness organizations, service groups and businesses. A variety of free health and wellness screenings and information, fire and safety demonstrations, as well as children’s activities will be offered.
In addition to the many activities, Trinity New Horizons and the Muscatine Police department have again partnered together to provide a medication drop off. Medicines play an important role in treating many conditions and diseases, but when they are no longer needed it’s important to dispose of them properly to avoid harm to others. The public is encouraged to bring unused or outdated medications for safe disposal.
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in healthy meal preparation and fitness demonstrations including:
Cooking demonstrations Low Sodium Meals at 11 a.m. Plant Based Cooking at noon Low Carbs Meals at 1 p.m. Plant Based Cooking at 2 p.m. Healthy Desserts at 3 p.m.
Fitness demonstrations Senior Chair Exercises from 10:30-11 a.m. 1K Walk at noon Standing Pilates from 1:30-2 p.m. Family Fitness & Fun from 2:30-3 p.m.
The Trinity Muscatine Community Health Fair is open to the public at no charge.
