Lynn Howard and Connie Alexander hosted a poppy event at the intermediate school in Aledo April 17 2015. The 5th graders learned about The Poppy, and how it represents our fallen soldiers. It all started at Flanders Field, and has since become known as the Memorial Flower. The little red flower known as The Poppy is put together by Veterans, and the donations from our distribution of The Poppy is used to help Veterans in our community. The children were very attentive, and had many questions and stories to tell of their loved ones who are in the military, or who have since retired from the military. They all took home a Poppy, and a Poppy Bookmark. We also donated The Poppy Lady book to their library. It was a good day and the lesson taught will be remembered for a lifetime.
