Keithsburg playground committee making plans

Submitted by Melonie McLaughlin

There is some exciting news about the Keithsburg Playground Committee and the Keithsburg Fall Festival. The date has been set for Oct. 3, 2015.

It was not any easy task to raise $18,900 but we did it, mostly dollar by dollar. This past week the committee ordered a play set.

The goal is to have it installed by the Fall Fest, Oct. 3. It’s ambitious considering everyone's summer is busy, but the committee is not backing down from a challenge?

The Keithsburg Playground Committee is very proud to finally be able to show everyone what they have been working so hard on. Three years and many volunteer hours, by so many, made this possible. Our fundraising is NOT OVER by no means, but we are well on our way thanks to every one of you that donated or volunteered hours and help.

Every cent matters and we appreciate you all.

A lot of ground work is needed, electrical work, dirt work and some of the current playground equipment is to be relocated. This will all take time, done by volunteers. If you are free or would like to lend a hand when we get closer to installation give the committee a shout out. We need you and everyone is welcome at committee meetings! Like us on Facebook at Keithsburg Playground Committee for information and more details.

Keithsburg 3rd Annual Fall Festival will host a Color Me Fun Charity 5K – IF LIFE HANDS YOU COLOR ---- RUN WITH IT. Oct. 3, 2015 the run starts at 10:30 A.M. Sign up starts at 9 AM at the Keithsburg Playground on Main Street (NEXT TO CASEY’S). Information and register on line at:

The Keithsburg Playground Committee will also be hosting this years’ Car/Truck & Motorcycle Show, Chili Cook-off, Bags Tournament and much more for the whole family.

The playground committee is also selling donor bricks to help raise money for the playground equipment and installation. The bricks can have your name, your company, or in memory of engraved on them by Lacky Monument and Sons in Galesburg. The bricks are sold in two different sizes and would make a great gift for someone special.

4" X 8" brick $50 (15 spaces per line, 2 lines maximum) 8" X 8" brick $100 (15 spaces per line, 3 lines maximum, plus logo or 5 lines) The bricks will be displayed in the park and viewed for many years to come! You can also go to to print out an order form.
