DAVENPORT, Iowa—For the eighth summer, St. Ambrose University is offering 7th and 8th grade students the opportunity to explore health care careers in a unique day camp format. Health Careers Adventure Camp, July 13-17, will allow students to experience the challenges, opportunities and rewards of health professions through hands-on learning sessions provided by faculty and practicing clinicians.

Campers will be supervised by  faculty and students currently enrolled in the health sciences education programs. Job shadow opportunities in different health care professions and disability awareness will also be part of the camp experience.

Camp runs Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Campers may be dropped off beginning at 7:30 a.m., and supervision will also be provided until 5 p.m. Enrollment is limited and pre-registration is required.

Cost to attend the weeklong camp is $200 and includes on-site pre- and post-program supervision, a shirt and team bag, daily snack and lunch, transportation to and from job shadow experience and program costs ($225 after July 1). A limited number of scholarships are available at the discounted rate of $35 for students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program.
