Joy Community Festival is June 13

The Joy Community Festival will be held all day Saturday, June 13.

A fun filled day of activities starts at 6 a.m. with the firemen's breakfast and ends at 8 p.m. with music at BooneDocks.

The Joy Firemen's Breakfast is from 6-10 a.m.

The city-wide yard sales start at 7 a.m. . Contact City Hall, 309-584-4127 for more information.

There will be a volleyball tournament that morning. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and lasts until 7:30 a.m. The tournament starts at 8 a.m. in the park. For more information contact Mallory, 309-335-4876.

At 9 a.m. there will be a 5K Run for the kids with process gig to the University of Iowa Dance Marathon. Contact Kristin, 563-260-4519 for more information.

The AMT Trailer will be on site from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Antiques, craft, and flea market venters can set up for no charge. Yesterday's Treasures will be open starting at 9 a.m. Contact Cliff, 563-260-4969 for more information.

At the Kid's Corner the will be a mechanical bull, large and small bounce house, petting zoo, games, face painting and much more.

Vendor's set up time is 8 a.m.

The MC Spirit Shop will be open at 11 a.m.

The Joy Fest Lunch Stand will be open from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Loose meat sandwiches and nacho chips will be served.

Boy Scout Troop #406 will open a lunch stand from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. with brats and hot dogs for sale.

Mercer County Cheerleaders will offer pop and wanter starting at 11 a.m.

A cake walk to benefit the Relay for Life will start at 3 p.m.

There will be a bags tournament starting at 4 p.m. Contact Dean, 563-260-1747 for more information.

There will be a flag honoring ceremony at the cannon in the northwest corner of the park at 1:30 p.m.

The Main Street parade line up starts at 2 p.m. with the parade starting at 2:30 p.m. Contact Sherri, 309-791-1197 for more information. There will be a trophy in each category and an overall trophy supporting the theme (Patriots Pride).

Entertainment during the afternoon will consist of the Mercer County Jazz Band playing from 3-4:30 p.m. and Myrna Rae's Studio of Dance performing from 4:30-6 p.m.

A homemade ice cream social is scheduled from 3-6 p.m. at Joy Park. You can pre order ice cream at 309-584-4172 or 309-584-4371.

Other food available are butterfly pork chop sandwiches, ribeye sandwiches, hot dogs, applesauce, bake beans, homemade vanilla and chocolate ice cream, pie, cake, coffee and ice team.

Music starts at BooneDocks parking lot at 8 p.m. The bands Facing Time and Seven-Shy will play.
