Cathy Ekstrand, senior market advisor with Stewart-Peterson, will be the featured speaker for a Women’s Ag Marketing Workshop on Thursday, August 27 at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  The program will be held at the Henry County Farm Bureau, 114 N. East St., Cambridge.

The program is free of charge, but is limited to the first 20.  Reserve your seat by contacting the Henry County Farm Bureau (309-937-2411) or kbhcfb@theinter.com.

The Women’s Marketing program will focus on basic fundamentals of marketing and market strategies, as well as a look at current trends in grain and livestock.

Growing up in rural Illinois, Ekstrand learned to appreciate the value of country living.  She understands why marketing can be such a challenging and vital part of their business, ultimately determining their quality of life both now and in the future.

A graduate of the University of Illinois, Cathy majored in agriculture and communications. Her first job out of college was in the marketing department at the former Shissler Seed Co. near Elmwood. Later she worked as the farm and business reporter at The Register-Mail in Galesburg talking with farmers and their families on issues that affected their communities, lives and livelihood. She became a licensed market advisor in 2002.

Ekstrand currently advises farm clients throughout the country on their grain and livestock marketing from Stewart-Peterson Group’s branch office located in Yates City in Knox County.
