Phase II environmental study to be considered
The Aledo City Council's Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Committee voted Aug. 24 to recommend the full council consider a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment at the Farmers Grain & Coal facility, 110 SE Third Ave.
Klingner & Associates of Quincy recommended the study at the cost of $14,550. Klingner previously did a Phase I study.
City Administrator Bob Mahrt said the TIF Committee earlier identified the property for possible redevelopment.
"We're trying to be proactive at that site," Mahrt said.
Information from the study would be available if someone is interested in developing the site in the future.
"Is there a Phase III after Phase II or is that it?" asked Alderman Ila Bertrand.
"That's it," said City Attorney Mark Walton.
Mahrt told the committee the Phase I study cost $2,600, with $4,850 for a asbestos and demolition report.
