Eat Better, Eat Together Month

October is Eat Better, Eat Together Month. To celebrate, University of Illinois Extension is offering a family program on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at their office, 321 W Second Ave., in Milan.
The program will start at 5:30 with a hearty soup and bread supper to be shared by all. At 6 p.m. school-aged youth will go into a separate meeting where they will be introduced to 4-H and enjoy a hands-on activity. Adults will attend a program by Kristin Bogdonas, University of Illinois Extension Nutrition and Wellness Educator. She will lead a discussion the benefits of eating healthy meals together, followed by a hands-on cooking class. Participants will mix ingredients for a pasta soup and a bread in a bag recipe they will take home for an easy and healthy future family meal. At 7 pm, youth and adults will meet together to make a great tasting healthy energy drink – with a Halloween twist.
The program, meal and supplies is $5 for adults and free for youth (ages 5 and older). Seating is limited.
