Fall Fido McFest is Saturday
he first Fall Fido McFest in Aledo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, in Central Park.
The event is sponsored by the FurEver Friends for Mercer County and McDonald's. All proceeds will be split 50/50 between FurEver Friends and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Activities include a walk around Central Park and the fire station, an appearance by Ronald McDonald, a photographer available for "Fido Fotography", face painting, canine agility/obedience demonstration, Aledo Police Department canine officer demonstration, as well as a silent auction, games, and music.
There also will be contests for pet costume and largest/smallest dog.
Rules include all dogs must be over four months of age and current on rabies vaccination, walkers younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult, pets must be on leashed at all times _ no retractable leashes _ no dogs in any stage of heat will be permitted. All owners must clean up after their pets.
There are applications at local merchants, veterinary offices, and the dog registration office at the courthouse, as well as online at www.fureverfriendsofmercercounty.org.
A pre-registration fee of $15 must be received on or by Thursday, Oct. 1. You will receive a T-shirt and goody bag for registering early.
