Eagles at cross country sectionals on Saturday, Oct. 31

The Mercer County Golden Eagles soared high Saturday, Oct. 24, in the cross country regionals at Hawthorn Ridge. The boys finished first and the girls took second. Both teams advance to the Elmwood Sectional.

Ethan Morrow of Mercer County took individual honors with a time of 16:42. The all-underclassmen Eagles won the team competition convincingly, 55 to 94 over second place Macomb. Ethan Adolphson of Mercer County was fifth at 17:13.

Rockridge was eighth in the boys' competition with a score of 176. The Rockets' Caleb Kibling advances to the sectional as an individual.

The Mercer County girls were second to Knoxville, 65-78. Carli Skiles led the Eagles, finishing third with a time of 19:43. Morgan Joy was 15th at 22:03.

United finished nine at 220. Two Rockridge freshmen, Joscalyn Hulderson and Jessica Patch, advanced to the sectional, as did Carolina Cruz of United.

The girls sectional begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the boys at 11:15 a.m. Both sectionals will be at Elmwood's Maple Lane Country Club.
