United and Sherrard meet in Thursday's volleyball regional championship game
The United Red Storm volleyball team opened regional action Tuesday, Oct. 27, with a two-match sweep of West Central. United is now 31-5 this season.
Lauren Sperry had 9 kills for the Storm, while Mallory Flynn added 14 assists and Emma Marshall had six digs in the 25-11, 25-15 victory. Natalie Johnson of United had four ace serves.
Sherrard won the other semi-final game in the United regional, downing Knoxville, 25-22 and 25-19. Sherrard is now 20-10 on the campaign. Faith Anderson had 10 kills for the Tigers, while Spencer Strandgard had five ace serves and 17 assists.
United and Sherrard square off at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship. The winner advances to next Thursday's Knoxville sectional and will take on the winner of the Fieldcrest regional.
