New Boston Girl Scouts need sponsors for Operation Christmas Child

The New Boston Girl Scout Troop 8745 (Juniors and Cadettes) will be making Shoebox gifts this month through “Operation Christmas Child” and Samaritan’s Purse.  They are looking for community members who would like to sponsor one box for a girl 10 to 14 years old in need in another country.

The troop estimates the cost to fill one shoebox with gifts for a girl to be $25, with the shipping, labels, etc. costing $7.  The Girl Scouts will purchase all the gifts, pack the shoeboxes at one of their meetings, then deliver them to a local drop location.  They are then sent to young girls all around the world!  The troop guarantees that 100% of all money will be spent on gifts for the girls overseas.

With the purchase of the shipping and labels, the girls can track the boxes for you and then let you know where your shoebox was sent!  You also have the option to include a personal photo and letter to the girl who will receive your shoebox.

The New Boston Girl Scouts will take sponsors until Sunday, November 15th.  Any checks can be made out to GSEIWI Troop 8745.  Shoeboxes will be packed on November 16th.

If you would like to sponsor a Christmas gift box for a young girl in need overseas, please contact a New Boston Junior or Cadette Girl Scout member.  If you don’t know a girl in this troop, feel free to contact the troop leader, Julie Wagner, (309) 791-1306 or illinifans@frontiernet.net.
