University of Illinois Extension has teamed up with University of Illinois’ students on a project to better understand resident opinions of the Hennepin Canal Trail/State Park.

Forty-seven students are taking the course, Communications in Recreation, Sport & Tourism.  They are developing a strategic communication project based on the trail system.  Participation by users will help them advise local organizations and communities along the trail regarding tourism activities and use of the trail among residents.  The deadline to respond is Nov. 13.

The trail system consists of 104.5 miles of trails that span Rock Island, Henry, Bureau, Whiteside, and Lee counties with a state park, Hennepin Canal State Parkway, located in Sheffield.  You can take the online survey on the University of Illinois Extension’s website: web.extension.illinois.edu/hmrs or on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/uiextensionhmrs or directly at this link:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MC2Y35G Hard copies are also available at the University of Illinois Extension offices in Henry, Mercer and Rock Island.
