Eagles take second in Lady Cranberry Classic

Kenzie Baker skies high to give the Mercer County Golden Eagles the opening tip-off against the ROWVA Tigers.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes won the Cranberry Classic Wednesday, Nov. 18, by defeating the West Central Heat 48-29 to go 3-0 in the round robin format. This ends West Central's three-year reign as champions of the Lady Cranberry Classic.

In the final game of the tournament, the Mercer County Golden Eagles defeated the host ROWVA Tigers by a final score of 59-26 to claim second place with a record of 2-1 .  The Eagles only loss came at the hands of the Abingdon -Avon.

West Central finishes the tournament at 1-2  while the ROWVA Tigers go 0-3.

In Wednesday's game, the Eagles were able to gain control early and used their entire bench. Every player on the Golden Eagles roster scored while gaining valuable game time experience. Leading the balanced scoring for the Eagles was junior guard Ellie Lower with 12 points, followed by sophomore guard Allyssa Hess and junior forward Kenzie Baker with 10 points each.
