Candidates file on first day
Many candidates across the state filed their nominating petitions Monday, Nov. 23, the opening of the filing period.
In the 74th State House District, Republicans Wayne Saline, Dan Swanson and Mike DeSutter all filed at 8 a.m. Monday, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections. That means there will be a lottery to determine their order on the ballot.
It didn't appear that Democrat Bill Butts filed with early filers, but as the only announced Democrat on the ballot, he doesn't have to worry about ballot position.
The candidates are filing to run in the March 15, 2016, primary. The filing period extends through Mon., Nov. 30.
