ALEDO — The board members and officers of the Mercer County Agricultural Society have decided to cancel/postpone the 2020 Mercer County Fair.

The county fair is held annually the second week in July. Due to the Gov. JB Pritzker’s mandate and the Illinois Covid-19 Phase 5 Restart Program, many of the earlier fairs are canceling now. Another local fair, the Henry County Fair in Cambridge has also canceled. A few fairs have opted to postpone to a later date.

According to a press release from the Mercer County Agricultural Society, they will continue to provide upgrades to the infield electrical wiring, Merchants Building restrooms, road maintenance and as always painting this year as normal.

The 2019 Mercer County Fair queens, Makaila Hootman, Lucy Coffey and Xiomara Bowns will continue their reign and duties representing Mercer County 2020 until next years fair when new ones will be crowned in 2021.
