Alternatives (for the Older Adult, Inc.) has received emergency funding from the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund (ICRF), the CARES Act, and the community foundations of the Quad Cities, Moline, East Moline, Rock Island and Day.  With this funding, many of those hit hardest in our communities have access to critical resources through Alternatives.

Older adults are not just higher risk for COVID-19, but increasingly challenged to maintain supports that were in place prior to COVID-19.  During this pandemic, Alternatives is connecting with older adults to assure for their health, safety and well-being.  These resources are being provided to older adults and their caregivers across ten counties in midwestern Illinois, (Rock Island, Mercer, Henry, Putnam, LaSalle, Bureau, Knox, Warren, Henderson and McDonough).

In just the past few weeks, the following was provided:

332 received food, groceries, meals

27 received medical care or equipment

47 received household/hygiene items

12 have been set up for in-home care (to provide caregivers some respite)

25 had mortgage/rent/utility paid

Please contact Alternatives at 1-800-798-0988 or

if you know of an older adult struggling to maintain independence or quality of life during COVID-19 regardless of income level, (whether in their home, assisted living setting or nursing home.)  There are still funds available for emergency needs.
