City of Aledo to hold upgraded fireworks show
ALEDO — The City of Aledo will once again be celebrating Independence Day this year with the resident-favorite annual fireworks display on July 4th, thanks to generous community donors.
This spring, City leaders launched the 2022 Capital Campaign to gather financial support for the fireworks program amid a sharp increase in the cost of fireworks. Residents and businesses answered the call and raised the necessary funds.
“Our City really came together to make our celebrations possible and we couldn’t be more grateful,” Chris Hagloch, Mayor of Aledo, said. “It is clear that our businesses and organizations understand how important events like this are to our residents and the community we built here in Aledo.”
After hearing resident feedback about the 2021 fireworks display, City officials explored ways to make the 2022 July 4th celebration even better. Improving this fun community event was made possible through monetary donations from nearly 25 local businesses, organizations, and community members.
Among these sponsors, several community businesses and organizations stepped up to make the event possible, including General Grind & Machine, Inc., Frick & Fell Homes Sales, Lou and Sonia Powell, and the Aledo Police Department.
“We are grateful to our sponsors for stepping up and helping us make this event possible,” Jarod Dale, Aledo City Clerk, said. “This was a community-wide effort and every donation made a difference. Through these generous contributions, our residents get to enjoy this patriotic tradition as we celebrate Independence Day.”
The fireworks display will begin just after dark (around 9:30 p.m.) on July 4th and is being launched from the Mercer County Fairgrounds. Residents interested in viewing the fireworks can visit the Fairgrounds.
In the event of a rain-out, the City of Aledo will hold the fireworks display at the same time on July 5th at the Mercer County Fairgrounds.
