Members of Joy-Eliza Ag 4-H Club members share their stories:
Lincoln Bonynge: My name is Lincoln Bonynge. I am 7 years old and this is my second year as a Cloverbud in 4-H. I like art and animals. My favorite part of 4-H is working with the animals.
Josie Bonynge: My name is Josie Bonynge. I am 9 years old and this is my first year in 4-H. I show Romney sheep. I also enjoy art and fiber arts. My favorite thing about 4-H is getting to show my sheep.
Sadie Bonynge: My name is Sadie Bonynge. I am 12 years old and have been in 4-H for three years now. I show Romney sheep. I also participate in art, fiber arts and photography. My favorite thing about 4-H is showing my sheep at the Mercer County Fair. I also really like serving others with the community service projects that we do.
Tyler Marlow: I’m Tyler Marlow. This is my seventh year in 4-H. My favorite part of 4-H is doing community service! I will be taking my goats to the fair this year!
Reese Marlow: I’m Reese Marlow. This is my fifth year in 4-H. My favorite part of 4-H is going to the State Fair. My favorite project this year is photography.
Jake Marlow: I’m Jake Marlow. This is my second year in Cloverbuds. My favorite part of 4-H is visiting other farms!
Carson Holmes: Hi! My name is Carson Holmes. This is my 10th year in 4-H and I will be attending Black Hawk East in the fall. My only project this year is beef and I will be showing a Red Angus and Hereford heifer at the fair.
Brady Holmes: Hi! My name is Brady Holmes. This is my fifth year in 4-H. My only project this year is beef and I will be showing two Simmental heifers.
Kylee Duncan: Hello, I’m Kylee Duncan and I’m 13 years old. This is my sixth year participating in 4-H. This year my projects are Cooking 301 and Woodworking 3. I’m looking forward to showing my project at the fair. I’m baking a cake for my cooking project and I plan to build a shelf for my bedroom for my woodworking project.
Hannah Sell:My name is Hannah Sell and this is my third year in 4-H and I will be in the 6th grade. This year I will be showing my sheep at the fair. When I'm not working with my lambs I enjoy playing the violin.
Desiree Reid: Hi, my name is Desiree Reid. I’m 18 years old and this is my 10th year of 4-H. My projects for this year include: horses, goats, photography, vegetable gardening, vet science, and interior design. Through 4-H I have learned many different responsibilities, leadership skills, and it is a great opportunity to make new friends.
Colton Reid: Hello, my name is Colton Reid and I am 14 years old. I have been in 4-H for eight years. I am enrolled in cooking, geology, photography, vegetable gardening, woodworking, esports, video/filmmaking and goats. My most memorable experience so far from 4-H was the esports spin club virtual meetings and the competition at the State Fair. It was then fun to meet and play a tournament in person.
Savannah McKay: My name is Savannah McKay and I am 15 years old. This is my ninth year as a 4-H member. This year, I am taking Photography II, Food Preservation, and Visual Arts: Fabric. I enjoy working in my garden and making handmade items. I am looking forward to the fair.
Korbin McKay: My name is Korbin McKay and I am 10 years old. This is my third year as a 4-H member. This year, I am taking woodworking. I enjoy baseball, football, and riding 4-wheelers.
Darrin McKeag: Hello! My name is Darrin. This is my fourth year in 4-H. I enjoy gardening and showing my garden projects at fair. This year I am looking forward to showing my tractor project.
Hailey McKeag: Hi! My name is Hailey. This is my first year in 4-H. My projects this year are Cooking 101 and Food Decorating. I am looking forward to showing my projects this year.
Briley Thompson: My name is Briley Thompson and this is my first year in 4-H. I am taking my beef 1 and wildlife science 1 projects to the fair.
Autumn Geertz: My name is Autumn Geertz. I am 9 years old. This is my second year as a 4-H member. My projects this year are cooking 101 and visual arts – clay. I enjoy dancing, softball and playing with family and friends.
Colby Cox: This is my eighth year in 4-H. My projects include pigs and woodworking. This year I built a folding sewing table for my Grandma’s antique sewing machine.
CJ Cox: This is my second year in 4-H. My projects the last two years have been rabbits, pigs and woodworking I enjoy working in the shop with my Grandpa and big brother.
Kendall Cox: This is my second year as a Cloverbud. I like learning about all of the farm animals.
Natalie Taylor: My name is Natalie Taylor. I am 8 years old and I’m a Cloverbud with the Joy/ Eliza 4-H Club. This is my second year in 4-H and I will be taking a farm animal cloverbud project to the fair. I like getting to learn about all the animals and spend the week at fair with all my friends. I can’t wait till next year when I can bring my cows horses and chickens to fair. Besides 4-H I am active on the Twisters tumbling team.
Mitchell Taylor: My name is Mitchell Taylor. I am 11 years old and have been in 4-H for five years. I am interested in woodworking, gardening, and welding for General projects, but I love to work with my cows and horses all year long and get to show them off fair week. I love spending the week camping at the fair with my animals. When I’m not with my animals I love to read spend time kayaking swimming and wrestling.
Nathan Taylor: My name is Nathan Taylor. I am 17 years old and have been in 4-H for five years. I love working on engines and cars. I will be taking cows to fair along with small engine general project. I enjoy working on the farm and learning about the machinery. When I’m not on the farm I love gaming, computers, and am currently working on my Eagle Scout rank.
Aurora Fitchner: My name is Aurora Fitchner. I have been in 4-H for eight years. The projects I take in 4-H are Beef, Swine, and Rabbits. My favorite part about 4-H is that it teaches you responsibility and time management. I have learned responsibility from my Swine project by getting up every morning feeding my pigs and then washing and walking them. My beef project has also taught me about responsibility by making me get up in the morning to feed and tie up my heifer and then in the evening walking her. Last but not least my rabbits have taught me responsibility by encouraging me to water my rabbits in the morning and then in the afternoon to feed them. 4-H has also taught me time management by making me work effectively and efficiently to get all of the stuff I have stated above done in a timely manner.
