Lauren Wegner, 35, of Clayton, North Carolina, died instantly Tuesday night when a 2018 GMC Sierra driven by a 44-year-old Auburn man entered the southbound lanes near mile marker 88 driving the opposite direction and hit Wegner's 2008 Mercury Sable. Also struck were a 2017 Toyota Corolla driven by a 61-year-old Granite City man and a semi-trailer driven by a 37-year-old Spring, Texas man. The GMC then overturned.
