Man stabbed in New Boston

Mercer County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched at 11:25 p.m. Friday, May 15 to a reported fight outside The Barn, a tavern in New Boston. Officers determined that Timothy J. Nixon, 30, of Muscatine, had been stabbed in the left arm and left leg. Officers arrested Matthew R. Murphy, 27, of Aledo, for aggravated battery. Officers also arrested Michael J. Medhurst, 30, of New Boston, for obstructing justice. The New Boston Police Department and Ambulance Service, Aledo Police Department and Mercer County Sheriff's Office all responded to the complaint. Nixon was transported to Mercer County Hospital and later to Trinity West Hospital.

Mercer County Sheriff Tom Thomnpson said the fight started in the bar and went outside.
