Sheriff's report on accident

This Ford truck received a good amount of damage this morning just west of Viola on Hwy 17, in a two vehicle accident involving the truck and a semi.

Mercer County Sheriff's deputies handled a traffic crash on Ill. Rte 17 two miles west of Viola Thursday, Nov. 4. A pickup driven by James V. Richardson, 68, of rural Aledo was struck by a Peterbilt semi, owned by Western Express Inc., driven by Alan M. Hodson, 38, of Clarion Iowa.

Richardson was transported to Mercer County Hospital via AMT ambulance. He was cited for improper lane usage. The crash occured around 8:45 a.m. The Viola Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
