Roger Reed charged with reckless homicide
Amended charges were filed against Roger K. Reed, 24, of Aledo Thursday, May 12, 2011 who was involved in a reckless homicide, a special class 3 felony. On or about April 28, 2011 Reed was driving on Hwy. 17, approximately one-half mile east of 151st St. between Aledo and Joy that resulted in the death of Jeffrey K. Rickords.
Reed was charged with two counts of aggravated driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, one charge a class 2 felony and the other a class four felony. The second charge was while the defendant was under the influence of alcohol, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in great bodily harm.
The third charge, reckless homicide, states the defendant unintentionally caused the death of Rickords by recklessly driving a vehicle in a manner to likely cause death or great bodily harm while under the influence of alcohol.
A preliminary hearing will be held June 7 at 10:30 a.m.
