Troopers handle 2,449 calls in May

EAST MOLINE -  Illinois State Police District Seven announced that during the month of May 2012, Troopers handled 2449 calls for service and assistance.  Of these calls, 195 were to help motorists whose vehicles were disabled on area highways.

Criminal activities during the month included 10 persons apprehended for being wanted on outstanding warrants and 19 arrested for other criminal offenses.

Traffic enforcement activities resulted in 504 drivers arrested for speeding and 548 cited for seat belt violations.  Driving under the influence arrests totaled 30, while 8 apprehensions for other alcohol related offenses were recorded.  Troopers issued a total of 1284 traffic citations and 1213 written warnings to motorists during the month.

Troopers and weight inspectors issued 51 citations for overweight loads and issued 184 written warnings for overweight violations.

District Seven Troopers handled 39 traffic crashes within the four county area of Rock Island, Henry, Knox, and Mercer. There were no fatal crashes handled by District 7 Troopers.
