Arrests, aggravated battery and battery charges made

On Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 around 1:25 a.m. the Aledo Police Department responded to the area of the 200 block of West Main Street, in reference to a fight and injured party. Upon arrival officers found an 18-year-old male subject from Aledo on the ground with a head wound. The injured subject was transported to Mercer County Hospital by AMT Ambulance.

The investigation continued and later led to the arrest of Ryan J. DeRoo, 28, of Aledo for aggravated battery. During this investigation a separate incident took place in the 600 block of N.E. 4th Ave., and following that second incident three subjects were arrested for battery. The three subjects arrested for battery were: Austin G. Dale, 18 of Aledo, Christopher L. Engle, 21, of Aledo and a 17-year old from Galesburg. All subjects arrested for the battery were released on a Notice to Appear or posted the required bond.

DeRoo was later released from the Mercer County Jail on a Notice to Appear because of an injury.

The victim was later flown by LifeFlight from Mercer County Hospital to OSF in Peoria. The victim is now stable and has non-life threatening injuries.

The Aledo police department was assisted with this investigation by the Mercer County sheriff’s department.
