Sexual predator sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections

On April 1, 2013 after a plea to one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class X Felony, James S. Gladwin received 10 years prison, followed by three years mandatory supervised release. Because of the nature of th crime he will have to serve eight and a half years actual time. Mr. Gladwin had one prior conviction for sexual abuse for which he received three years prison.

At the sentencing hearing First Assistant State's Attorney Meeghan Lee presented a letter from the victim about how she was sexually assaulted up t year 2005. Commented Ms. Lee, "While we always want extended prison in such cases the 10 years will give our young victim time to move on without fear. She is a brave young woman who was prepared to go through a jury trial to make sure the defendant went to prison."
