Aledo's years in the black may be over
The Aledo School Board approved its Fiscal Year 2008 audit report Oct. 20.
The audit from Fiscal Year 2008 found the district finish last year in the black by $150,000. The district has fund balances of $2.3 million.
"The district has had three outstanding years in a row fiscally," said Boucher. "That was probably the last one for awhile." Boucher blamed this on three things - the economy, declining enrollment and the inequitable funding formula from the state.
Boucher said the districted got dinged for the lack of office staff but the audit also noted that costs shouldn't exceed benefits."
Boucher said, "The numbers are too dramatic to end the year in the black."
The board agreed to hire Cullen Welter as weight room coordinator; Brooke Fluette as key club advisor; Andrea Hesse as graduation and prom advisor and Aaron Heartt and Mike Chausse as FFA advisors.
Mark Artcher was hired as the eighth grade basketball coach.
The board approved an integrated pest management plan.
The board is looking into installing an elevator in the high school.
