Cole Matkovic monument dedication

The Sherrard High School Chapter of Students Against Driving Drunk cordially invites the community to attend a brief ceremony to dedicate a monument to Cole Matkovic on Wednesday, June 3 at 8:45 a.m. at Sherrard High School.

A monument and flowering crab apple tree have been placed near the high school ball diamonds, east of the high school.

“Emma Williams is the SADD member who thought of this idea and we took it from there,” says Donna Lamb, SADD advisor.

Cole was a first grader at Winola Elementary School when he was tragically killed in a drunk driving accident in 1998. Cole would have been a junior at Sherrard High School this year had his life not ended prematurely. Cole was a big baseball fan, and his family requested that this memorial be placed near our baseball fields.
