Sherrard Academic Foundation to award for excellence

Today is the final day to make reservations and pay for a dinner ticket to the second annual Sherrard Alumni Hall of Fame Banquet & Awards ceremony. The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at the Rock Reception Hall in Coal Valley. Building a Sweet Foundation, is the theme of this year’s event which recognizes and celebrates the outstanding achievement of Sherrard and Winola High School alumni.

Silent auction and cocktails are at 5:30 p.m.; dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the hall of fame ceremony at 7:15 p.m. The event is being presented by the Sherrard Academic Foundation and Farmer’s State Bank of Western Illinois. Those set to be honored this year are Rear Admiral Richard Friichtenicht (awarded posthumously), Sherrard High School class of 1950; Ralph Harris, PhD, Sherrard High School class of 1956; Janice (Tindall) DeTaeye, Sherrard High School class of 1956; Dwight Burrill,, PhD, Winola High School class of 1958; Brad Anderson, Sherrard High School class of 1977 and Dan Steele, Sherrard High School class of 1987.

Proceeds will be used to support and encourage academic excellence in partnership with the Sherrard School District.
