The Mercer County District Board of Education and the Mercer County Education Association (MCEA) have ratified a two-year labor agreement. The teacher's union ratified the contract on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010. The BOE ratified it with a 7-0 approval at the Feb. 24, 2010 school board meeting. The school district has approximately 120 teachers, of whom 110 are union members.

"The vote was approved by 94 percent of the MCEA members, according to Union Co-president Margorie Seiver. " An overwelming majority as far as I'm concerned," she said.

Merging the labor agreements from the two former districts was challenging during difficult economic times. Both sides worked diligently to establish fair and reasonable provisions that meet the needs of both organizations.
