CSC Receives Meritorious Budget Award

Carl Sandburg College has received the Meritorious Budget Award through the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) for excellence in the preparation and issuance of its 2010-2011 annual budget.

The overall summary from the ASBO Review Team stated that the CSC submitted budget was a fine document, which included a wealth of information in graphic and narrative form. The document was user-friendly for the average taxpayer with lots of data presented in different forms to meet the needs of varied users.

“We are pleased to have been recognized for preparing a budget that informs all interested parties of our financial status and goals,” said Lisa Blake, chief financial officer and treasurer for CSC.

The Meritorious Budget Award is only conferred to school systems that have met or exceeded the Meritorious Budget Award program criteria. No other organization or award program is specifically designed to enhance school budgeting and honor a school system for a job well done.

The Meritorious Budget Awards Program was designed by ASBO International and school business management professionals to enable school business administration to achieve excellence in budget presentation. The program helps school systems build a solid foundation in the skills of developing, analyzing and presenting a budget. The program in sponsored by ING, a global financial institution formerly known as Internationale Nederlanden Group.

The mission statement of ASBO reads: The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) is a professional association that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth, and the effective use of educational resources.
