Sundberg Contract Extended, VP of Academic Services Named

The Carl Sandburg College Board of Trustees approved extending the contract of CSC President Lori L. Sundberg during the regular monthly meeting held on Thursday, Feb. 24. Dr. Sundberg’s contract would be extended through June 30, 2015, in accordance with the plan implemented in 1996. The plan extends the contract for its incumbent president to four years with an annual review to be done and a one-year extension to be considered each year in January.

The Board also approved the appointment of Julie Gibb as the vice president of academic services. Gibb was first appointed as interim for the position in January 2010. Gibb has been with Carl Sandburg College for 25 years and has served as associate dean of humanities and performing arts for the last five years prior to this interim position. She possesses a bachelor of arts in speech and a master of arts in communication education. She has received a number of academic and theatrical awards and was named the Outstanding Faculty of the Year at Carl Sandburg College in 1997. She will also remain tenured faculty.

Other action items included the appointment of four individuals as associate deans for the 2011-2012 academic year. Those individuals include: Carol Peterson, humanities and fine arts; Jill Johnson, social and behavioral sciences; Dave Burns, math and natural sciences, and Rosemary O’Daniel, nursing.
