Carl Sandburg College Choirs present “Broadway Blockbusters and Musical Scenes” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, in the Fine Arts Theatre located in Building F on the Main Campus, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd., Galesburg. The event offers a full evening of music from some of the best-loved Broadway shows of all time. It will also include pieces from lesser-known shows or shows that may have fallen into obscurity since their premiere.

CSC choir members will perform as soloists, in small groups, and as a large choir. Performances range from heartbreaking to comedic. This event marks the first time the CSC Choirs have undertaken a production this size. In addition, the concert will feature the Williamsfield High School Choir, under the direction of Becky Nichols, who will join the CSC Choirs on stage.

“I am continually astounded by the high level of talent and absolute professionalism of our students here,” said James Hutchings, coordinator and instructor of music at CSC. “The students have been excitedly preparing for months in anticipation of this venture. They have worked, learned, and memorized – this show is bound to be a dynamite production.”

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to contribute a $5 donation to help fund the CSC Choirs’ future endeavors. For more information, contact the Carl Sandburg College music hotline at (309) 341-5238 or music@sandburg.edu.
