Free Fitness Center Offer to CSC Students Fall 2011

The Fitness Center at Carl Sandburg College will be free to any CSC student who remains enrolled in three or more credit hours through the fall 2011 semester.

“Our goal is to get as many CSC students exercising as we can,” said Coletta Meyer, supervisor of the fitness center and wellness coordinator at CSC. “The best way to do this is to offer free fitness center memberships. We have a great facility here and we want students to utilize it.”

Students who use the facility are required to participate in a brief orientation to go over rules and guidelines, understand proper equipment handling, and to learn safety tips. Students still have the option to take the Fitness Center as a class for credit. Equipment includes treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bicycles, free-weight machines, resistance machines, and an indoor track, as well as an Adaptive Motion Trainer elliptical, Life Fitness treadmill, Smith machine, and AB SOLO trainer. The facility also offers popular workouts such as the P90X Workout and Insanity Workout on DVD which can be used in the studio. CSC summer and fall 2011 registration is currently open. Summer registration ends at midnight Sunday, June 5, and fall registration ends at midnight Sunday, Aug. 21. Fall semester classes begin Monday, August 22 and run through Thursday, Dec. 8. Students may register in person in the Admissions and Records Office in the lower level of Building E on the Main Campus. Regular office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Bushnell and Carthage campuses have regular office hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
