MCSD accepts bid for Apollo roof

The Mercer County School Board accepted a bid from Trotter Contracting in Macomb to replace a portion of the roof on Apollo Elementary School at the board's June 6 meeting.

Trotter Contracting submitted the low bid at $199,000.

Superintendent of Mercer County Schools Alan Boucher said the roof was put on in the late 1990s and has reached the end of its lifespan.

Trotter will be replacing a 12,800 square foot portion of the roof over he office area, the north-soouth hallway and the kindergarten area.

Boucher said work on the roof would start soon and take about two months to complete. Work on the roof should be completed before the 2011-12 school year begins.
