Young women can learn about engineering tech careers
Young women in ninth grade and older are invited to learn about engineering technology careers from 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 at the Black Hawk College Women in Engineering event.
Women interested in a non-traditional career can learn about opportunities in engineering technology and the college’s new Materials Science Technology program.
Participants will meet Debbie Collins, professor of computer information processing and chair of the college’s Department of Engineering, Computer & Apprenticeship Technologies. A female student in the Black Hawk College Engineering Technology program will talk about her experience, and two female engineers will use hands-on activities to demonstrate what they do in their jobs.
Everyone who registers for the event will receive a free T-shirt. The registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 18.
To register, contact Jen Holldorf at 309-796-5133 or Erica Murphy at 309-796-5196.
Women in Engineering will be in Building 2, Room 105 at the college’s Quad-Cities Campus, 6600 34th Ave., Moline.
