Help meet needs of seniors with Activity Professional training

Activity professionals work to meet the social, emotional, physical, spiritual and cognitive needs of senior citizens receiving long-term care.

Black Hawk College has a new 10-week Activity Professional course with training in gerontology, program development and design, management and leisure needs. Classes will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 7 to April 17, at the college’s Outreach Center, 301 Avenue of the Cities, East Moline.

By using a specialized knowledge in the field of geriatrics, therapeutic interventions and creative programming, activity professionals improve the lives of their clients on a daily basis.

Optional field work experience opportunity provided upon completion of the course. No previous experience or knowledge associated with aging is necessary prior to class.

Cost is $215 for residents of the Black Hawk College District. Call for out-of-district rates.
