Lecture on Donelson, Shiloh and General Grant June 10 at Sandburg Historic Site

 “Donelson-Grant-Shiloh” will be the topic of a lecture given by Barbara and Christian Schock and Mike Hobbs on Sunday, June 10 at 2 p.m. at the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site Barn, 313 E. Third Street in Galesburg.  The lecture is open to the public and refreshments will be served. A $3 donation is suggested.

In Abraham Lincoln: The War Years, Carl Sandburg wrote about Donelson and Shiloh, two momentous western Civil War battles and Ulysses S. Grant, the successful general from Galena.  Illinois soldiers, includingKnox County men, played prominent roles in these battles and Mother Bickerdyke cared for the wounded.  The significance of Illinoisans and Knox Countians in these actions will be discussed at the lecture.
