High school students invited to visit Augustana
High school students and their parents are invited to Augustana College on July 18, 19 and 20 for Summer Visit Days.
Designed as a one-day experience, a Visit Day provides an opportunity for teens to get an overview of the college. The day includes a campus tour, presentations by professors, and an informational fair about out-of-classroom opportunities. Those who attend also receive basic admissions, scholarship and financial assistance information. Events run from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Augustana College will award three scholarships (one $1,000 award and two $500 awards) to students who attend a Visit Day this summer. According to Meghan Cooley, director of recruitment communications for Admissions, scholarship eligibility is based on a 500-word essay. “We encourage all students coming to Summer Visit Days to write an essay prior to their visit,” said Cooley, a 1999 Augustana graduate. “This year’s topic is ‘If I could open up my autobiography to page 137, what would I read on that page?’”
Each day offers specific academic departmental presentations and a general academic session for students of any major or those not yet certain of their field of study. The Summer Visit Days schedule is:
