Esther Allen of Galesburg, will celebrate her 90th birthday during an Open House on Saturday, May 8. The event is from 2-4 p.m. at Alexis United Presbyterian Church. All relatives and friends are invited to attend the vent.

She has three children: Wes Allen, Robert Allen and Maxine Freeman. They are 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She also helped to raise five other children.

She was employed in the hot lunch program at the former Alexis High School for 20 years.

North Henderson Clean-Up Days is Friday, May 7, beginning at 5 a.m. Items should be put out the night before. Call Jim Tucker for assistance at 309-337-1207. Donations will be appreciated.

Tires, concrete, bricks, construction materials, auto batteries, yard wastes, oil (auto and cooking), hazardous solvents, dirt and wet paint WILL NOT be accepted.

Area churches sponsored a blood drive Wednesday, April 28 from 2:30- 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Deadline for May Share sign-up is through Sunday May 9 with Sheila at 482-5549. Class Unit is $17 and Deluxe Unit is $24. Both contains frozen meats, fresh produce and a bonus item.

May Extra Value Items are A-Grill Pack (steaks, pork chops, chicken breasts, and hamburger patties) $18, B-Pork Ribs (3 lbs.) $12, and CoSupper Time Meals (7) $19.

Delivery Day is Friday May 21 starting at 1:15 p.m. at the Community Center.

Dorothy McDowell, North Henderson, celebrated her 95th birthday, April 18. A family dinner marked the event. Dorothy Holmes was born April 18, 1915, in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She is the mother of Shirley Watson and Gary McDowell, both of North Henderson and Terry McDowell, East Galesburg. She has nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
