The Lions are continuing plans for manning the Mercer County Fair gate. This year's Rudy Green Memorial tractor ride will also take place during the fair, with tractor participants riding to the fairgrounds on Saturday, July 17. That is the halfway mark for the ride. All Lions and Lionesses and helpers will be needed to fill the many jobs done each year to make this ride a success.

Eliza American Legion held its April meeting on May 3. The Legion is putting in triple duty for the upcoming Memorial Day ceremonies at the Eliza Creek cemetery. Besides the normal posting of colors and 21-gun salute at the ceremony, some members will be part of the Memorial Service at the old church building. There will be a demonstration on folding the flag, with an explanation of the meaning of the 13 folds.

This Union Church celebration at Eliza Creek cemetery is scheduled for May 31 at 1:30 p.m. This year's speaker is Sam Ross Fuller, who will relay the experiences of his ancestor who fought with Sherman during the Civil War. Fuller will relay information from a journal his family has treasured through the years.

Two Eliza residents, Erny and Ed Schrock participated in the Honor Flight program on April 24. Both thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
