The American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive on Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 2:30-6:30 p.m. at the Alexis Community Center. To make an appointment, persons can call Sheila Pressley 482-5549. Walk-in's are welcome.

Alexis Woman's Club resumes regular meetings on Tuesday, Feb. 22, beginning at 2 p.m. at the community center. Pat Corben and Terri McKeague will present the afternoon program on their "Washington, D.C. Tour."  All interested persons are welcome to attend. February hostesses will be Norma Lucas and Mary Avis Richardson.

Harriet Laughead Bealer, Rock Island, celebrated her 90th birthday during an open house that was held Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Viking Club, Moline.

Harriet Hargrave was a native of Flora. She married Robert Laughead of Alexis in 1943 at For Logan, Colo. He is deceased.

Their children are Dan (Cindy) Laughead, Muscatine, Iowa' Jane Van Hyfte, Alexis; and Richard Laughead (deceased). There are grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harriet worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, the Denver and Rio Grand Western Railroad, and later retired form Burlington Northern Railroad. Her interests are many and varied.

Gerlaw whole hog sausage and pancake day is Wednesday, Feb. 2 from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. Adult tickets are $6 (for all you can eat), children, 5-10 years - $3, four years and younger - free. Carry outs too.

Mildred Loveridge, 46, Hawkinson Ave., Galesburg and formerly of the Alexis area, celebrated her 90th birthday, Jan. 20.

She and her late husband, Alvin, had 3 children; Lewanda Lowerry, Andover, Dixie McCreight, Alexi and Bill Loveridge, North Bend, WA. She has 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
