The Mercer County Junior High Wrestlers went to Plainfield Jan. 22, to compete in the Timber Ridge Tournament. The team placed sixth out of all the teams there. Place finishers were, first - Tristen Finch, second - Trae Blaser and Matthew Weeks, third - Mason Weeks, fourth - Drake Stirn, Curtis Van Winkle, and Chase Nelson, fifth - Quinton Ball and third - sixth place finishers - Robbie Carey, Ashton Klingaman and Mikey Neeld.

The junior high wrestlers had a conference dual meet on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at Rockridge. It was close but the Eagles pulled away in the last three weight classes for a 51-42 victory. Wins for the Eagles were Trenton Murphy, Drake Stirn, Ashton Klingaman, Tristen Finch, Mason Weeks and Chase Nelson. Receiving wins by a forfeit were, Mikey Neeld, Matthew Weeks, Quinton Ball and Carl Dennison. In exhibition matches, Barnhouse, Kisner, R. Carey and J. Carey all won by pinning their opponents.

Sympathy goes out to the Dan Springer and his family on the loss of his wife Sandy Springer of Seaton. Sandy passed away on Friday, Jan. 21 at her home. Services were Tuesday at Speer Funeral home in Aledo with a lunch to follow at the Center Presbyterian Church. Sandy was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church, and had served on the Seaton Community Club, Seaton Library Board and was a trustee of the Seaton Fire Department. Her children and their spouses that live in Seaton now are Bob and Beth Springer, Scott Springer and Peggy and Randy Kaufman. They are friends and neighbors of almost everyone in our town and Sandy will be dearly missed.

Something to look forward to - winter is almost half over. Birthdays this week include Ben Shutt on Jan. 25 and Dixie Greer on Jan. 29.
